• Lead counsel in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court case declaring school prayers unconstitutional

• Principal draftsperson of M.G.L. Ch. 151E, "Prohibition of Certain Discrimination By Businesses"

• Chair of the Commission on Law and Social Action (now JALSA, the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action)

• President of the New England Region of the American Jewish Congress

• Participant in numerous amicus briefs on various social and equality issues

• Founding Trustee of the Soviet Jewry Legal Advocacy Center

• Trustee of Facing History and Ourselves

• President of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Metropolitan Boston (the 42 member umbrella organization serving as the representative voice of the Jewish community)

• Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Massachusetts Coalition to Save Darfur
